Marius Samuelsen

It's been quiet from Marius Samuelsen after he went all the way to the top during Norwegian Idol in 2016. The pause might have been very long for those who have waited to hear new music from the distinctive voice they fell in love with. Now the wait is finally over with the release of his two new singles called «Gravity» and «Out Of Order»

Musician and singer-songwriter Marius Samuelsen had already decided to focus on music before Idol came into play. At the age of 18 he had no plans to audition, but when he got a call from the production company behind the international success, he accepted the invitation to audition. Confident as he is he took the chance to perform the self-composed song "Paper Guns” for the judges.

But from there even the Stavanger boy admitted that the whole thing has become like a fairytale. Unreal. Fantastic. For several months he lived in the «Idol-bubble». Where family, school, friends and everyday life was put on hold while he and the other young talents worked to develop as singers and performers. The weeks went on with hard work against liveshows every Friday where he risked everything to keep his place ahead of the competition.

Despite the fact that he has become more confident and outgoing as an artist, Marius is still humble and grateful for what a phenomenal springboard Idol was, and the unique opportunities his participation has given him. To grow as an artist and person, develop his musical character, and - not least - to be more sure of his music post-idol. Unlike the narrator of the song "One Of These Days" as Marius has no plans to postpone what is important to him. Because Marius is what the judges told him from the first audition, and he is what the audience felt from the moment they saw him - the real deal - a complete artist and songwriter who is planning to start a career on his own terms, regardless of whether TV cameras are there or not.

Margaret Berger

Home page: www.margaretberger.com

Her debut album Chameleon (2004) earned her two Spellemann nominations; Best New Artist and Music Video of the Year for her song Lifetime Guarantee, the latter for which she took home the award.

With her next album, Pretty Scary Silver Fairy (2006), we saw a more eclectic side of Berger, where she moved towards a new, electro-inspired sound, like in her hit single Samantha.

After Pretty Scary Silver Fairy she took a step away from the spotlight to focus on work as a dj for the club concept “Cloudbusting”, her songwriting, and selected glimpses of greatness. When she returned in 2011 with the album In A Box, she proved herself as a gifted storyteller with a more intuitive and playful approach to her own subject matter.

With the song I Feed You My Love, Margaret performed Norway’s contribution to the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest, and the Ice Queen from Trondheim mesmerized Europe. With great confidence, she’s established herself as a great artist with versatility to own any stage, be it Eurovision, the underground club scene, or massive festival stages.

So what to expect from Margaret Berger in 2017?

It’s been somewhat quiet in the media since her victory in the Norwegian Eurovision final and her amazing performance in the international Eurovision Song Contest, but after smaller stints as a juror in Norwegian Idol and a collaboration with underground pop duo F.A.C.E., we will finally get a taste of what’s really been brewing for the last four years.

Berger has chosen to release her album on her own label, and if there’s one word to best describe Berger 2017, the obvious choice is ”independent” – something clearly emphasised thematically in the first of several upcoming track releases.

In the cross section between artist and person lies Apologize, a single as uncompromising as it is soul searching. A painful, yet honest and personal confrontation where one re-emerges both stronger and wiser. The lyrics reflect the sincerity within Berger and how she instead of fighting her demons, embrace them and make them the undercurrent in her songwriting.

Where other artists play ”musical dress up” in a wide variety of ways, Berger’s musical development moves in the opposite direction. Every song peels off another layer, allowing us to get increasingly closer to who Margaret Berger really is.

The first track from Berger is an intimate piece of pop magic that hits the senses right where Berger has her aim.

During the beginning of 2017 Berger was included in the Norwegian concept "Hver Gang Vi Møtes" where seven known Norwegian artists cover each others songs in their own respective genre. Margarets season included Åse Kleveland, Hanne Sørvaag, Eldar Vågan and Esben "Dansken" Selvig amongst others.

Mathea-Mari

In the fall of 2012, a young girl from Bergen took the stage at Norway’s Got Talent. From this little body emerged a crystal clear voice that melted the audience and the judges’ hearts, and secured her a spot in the series finale, plus an invitation to audition for the title role in the stage production of the musical ”Annie”. Mathea-Mari got the part, and in 2013 as ”Annie” became a smash hit, ”the young girl with the long hair’s” name were on everyone’s lips.

In 2014 she returned to once again melt hearts when she won the Norwegian song contest for juniors; Melodi Grand Prix Jr, with ”#online”, a song she wrote to question the presence of children and youths in social media.

At only 15 years old, with close to one hundred shows and numerous television appearances over the last two years, Mathea-Mari has more stage experience than most people dream about. For the past year, this young talent has spent countless hours in the studio, and she cannot wait to share her new songs with the audience. 2018-2019 she´s in college studying music at LIMPI, witch she´s super excited about. I already know it’s an artist and musician I want to be. I have no plan B.

When Mathea-Mari released her new track ”One of Them” in 2016, it was with another important message to her generation: - I have become very fond of ”One of Them”. It puts my personal feelings into words, and it’s an honest song I know many youths will relate to, says the conciencious teenager from Bergen.

Da Norah var 18 år entret hun den norske musikkscenen med en fremragende andreplass i idol 2016. Finalen resulterte i Skinny Days-produserte “Stay”, samt signering av platekontrakt med Warner Music Norway.
